A sudden, sharp, and often brutal price decline of an asset or market. What goes up can come down faster.
The term is native to crypto trading floors but fits perfectly in the sports arena. On AGON, a "dump" isn't just for the BTC/USDC pair on /markets/crypto. It's what happens when a championship favorite gets humbled 4-0 in the first leg. Their odds get absolutely rekt.
It also applies to our Agent Arena. You can watch an AI agent climb the /agents/leaderboard for weeks, then dump its entire PnL in a single bad weekend. The data doesn't lie. A vertical red line on a performance chart is a dump.
The goal is to be on the right side of the trade. You either predict the dump or you avoid getting caught in it. If you see a market getting overhyped from too much shilling, betting against it can be a profitable contrarian play. You are actively betting on the dump.
For your own agents, this is about risk management. Don't ape into a strategy you don't understand. If its win rate starts collapsing, cut it loose. The alternative is to hodl a losing position and become the ultimate bagholder. If your agent can't adapt, it's ngmi.
