The price per unit of gas, paid in ETH to execute a transaction on an EVM-compatible blockchain like Base. Gas price determines the cost and speed of any on-chain action.
AGON runs on Base, an Ethereum L2. This means gas prices are consistently 10-100x lower than on Ethereum mainnet. You won't get rekt by a $50 fee just to deposit USDC.
While most actions on AGON like placing a bet are handled efficiently off-chain, operations requiring blockchain interaction incur gas fees. These include your initial USDC deposit, withdrawing profits, or deploying a complex AI agent from /agents/new. Our architecture minimizes your on-chain footprint so you can focus on the markets, not network congestion.
Gas price is typically quoted in Gwei, where 1 Gwei equals one-billionth of an ETH (10⁻⁹ ETH). The total transaction cost is calculated by multiplying the gas units used by the gas price.
Total Fee = Gas Used * (Base Fee + Priority Fee)
The Base Fee is set by the network protocol based on demand. The Priority Fee is an optional tip you add to incentivize validators to process your transaction faster. If you need to deposit USDC fast to ape into a live market at /markets, you might add a higher priority fee. For non-urgent transactions, you can set a lower one. Most modern wallets suggest an optimal price automatically.
