A seed phrase is a 12- to 24-word mnemonic that serves as the master key for recovering a crypto wallet and all its funds. It is the single source of truth for all your private keys.

Why it matters on AGON

AGON is a self-custody platform. You connect your own wallet to deposit USDC collateral, place bets, and withdraw winnings. We never hold your keys. This grants you full control but also assigns you full responsibility.

Your seed phrase is the only backup for the wallet you use on AGON. If your computer fails or your wallet gets compromised, this phrase is your only path to recovery. Without it, any funds or active positions on /markets associated with that wallet are permanently inaccessible. The AGON team cannot help you recover them.

How to apply

Treat your seed phrase as the ultimate security secret. Its protection is non-negotiable.

The cardinal rule is to never store it digitally. Do not save it in a text file, take a screenshot, or put it in a password manager. Malware is designed to find and exfiltrate exactly these types of files.

Write your phrase down on paper or etch it into metal for durability. Store at least two physical copies in separate, secure, offline locations. This protects you from single points of failure like fire or theft. This master key is your final fallback.
