USAEugene Cyril Smith III is an American professional football quarterback for the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the West Virginia Mountaineers, receiving first-team All-Big East honors in 2011, and was selected by the Jets in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft. Smith spent his first two seasons as the Jets' starter, but inconsistent play and injuries led to him being benched before his rookie contract ended in 2016. He played his next two seasons as a backup with the New York Giants and Los Angeles Chargers.
